Tickd for schools: data sheet
Tickd is available to schools. Teachers get access through their school. Tickd helps maths teachers mark handwritten exam papers. Last updated 13 October 2026. Full details: our privacy policy (gettickd.com/privacy).
What we collect
- Teacher: name, email, school, role, subject and class size (from the access request); login details and page usage.
- Exams: the markscheme, scanned pages with the name area blacked out, suggested marks and remarks, teacher changes and their history.
- A salted hash of network addresses, to stop abuse. Anonymous usage counts with no names, scans or answers.
- No student names. Names are blacked out in the teacher’s browser before upload. Handwriting and answers can still identify a student.
Where it is stored and who processes it
- Supabase
- Database, files and logins. Frankfurt, Germany (EU).
- Vercel
- Website hosting. Server functions in Frankfurt (EU); plain pages from its global network.
- Resend
- Email. Ireland (EU).
- Anthropic
- AI that reads markschemes and scanned pages. United States: this data leaves Qatar and the EU.
How long we keep it
- Exams
- 30 days after upload, or sooner if the teacher deletes them.
- Batch copies at Anthropic
- Deleted as soon as the marks are collected, or when the exam is deleted (retried every minute until done). At most 29 days.
- Access requests
- 90 days if not approved. Approved: deleted with the account.
- School-provided teacher accounts
- Deleted after 12 months without use, with an email warning 30 days before. Or sooner on request.
- Network address hashes
- 2 days.
- Anonymous counts
- Kept.
- Provider backups and logs
- A limited time, as set by each provider.
Security
- Encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest by our providers.
- Row-level security keeps each teacher’s data apart; exam files are in a private store.
- Only the person who runs Tickd has admin access. Providers keep activity logs.
- Breaches: we tell affected teachers and schools promptly, and authorities where the law requires.
Children’s data
Students may be children: teachers upload only with the school’s permission, the school decides what students and parents are told, and Tickd stores no student names.
